Selge
The imposing ruins of Selge, one the greatest Pisidian cities, are scattered within the modern village of Altınkaya, a place where the past and present come together at every corner, and where people still live in the same tradition as Pisidians over 2000 years ago. Selge’s theatre, its city centre, its temple-turned-church, and its stadium dominate the view, and many of the modern houses are built with written or decorated elements from ancient buildings. All around the city, the many terraced fields for olive groves and vineyards witness the hard labour of a hundred generations of farmers. The surroundings of Selge also host some of Pisidia’s most beautiful natural landscapes: old-growth forests of cedars and cypresses, fairy chimney rock formations and above all the Köprülü canyon, with its breath-taking 400m-high cliffs and its emerald green waters.
