Cremna
Kremna is located on a high plateau with sheer limestone cliffs, dominating the valley for many kilometres in all directions, and its strategic importance is highlighted by its imposing ring of fortification walls. The city defences were the stage for a famous siege in 278 CE, when Kremna rebelled to the Roman authority before succumbing to its ruthless legions. The bath house, the Christian basilica and the high street flanked by markets are some of the city highlights. The most curious find in Kremna is however the inscribed “oracular stone” at the centre of the main city square, which contains 56 divinations (predictions for the future) in ancient Greek.
